From time to time, the world of beauty is “revolutionized” with a novelty. The place that, one day, was occupied by the flat iron, today is the rotating brush. Combining the functionality of drying and brushing the hair at once, the swivel brush's main purpose is to increase the practicality of the hair care routine for those who don't like to go out with wet hair. Like all news, it also comes with some questions from those who have never heard of the product — and today we are going to unravel some of them for you. 

Rotary brush: how does it work?

At first glance, the accessory looks like a normal round hairbrush, like those used to brush the hair next to the dryer, but it is a little bigger and has a cable to be connected to the socket. Between the bristles, the rotating brush has small hot air outlets and on the handle, indicators of air jet intensity and direction of rotation (these details may vary according to the model). 

To use it, you must bring the brush close to the root of your wet hair, choose the ideal side for rotation and move the device towards the ends. The way to tell the right direction is simple: the locks should “twist” into the appliance, but not impede downward movement (which is how you ensure the strands are completely dry). As with other heat tools, to make the process easier you can divide your hair into sections.

The rotating brush requires the same care as other heat tools

Although it works in a “new” way, the rotating brush joins the heat tool team. That is: before using it, you must take some basic precautions. The use of a thermal protector, for example, is essential, as your wires must also be protected from the high temperatures of the device. It is also worth avoiding using the brush daily so that your hair is not damaged by excessive heat. Finally, do not neglect preventive actions: keep your capillary schedule up to date so that the strands remain healthy even with frequent use of the rotating brush. 

Hair dryer vs rotary brush: which is better?

Even if it is a very good and useful novelty, it is difficult for the rotating brush to take the reign of the hair dryer, our companion for so long. The reason is simple: while the dryer has several functions and is a useful accessory for all hair types, the brush ends up having a more limited niche for those with straight, straightened or wavy hair. This does not mean that curly and curly hair cannot use the device, but that the structure of curly hair requires a little more care when using the device. Also, if your intention is just to dry the strands and not straighten them, the dryer will actually be a better choice.
