Understanding the hair color chart is much simpler than it looks! All you have to do is identify the numbers before and after the dot in the coloring box and remember (or check) what they represent. The tones, nuances and reflections are very important for the divas to get it right when it comes to dyeing their hair, be it black, brown, blonde or even a fantasy color.

Want to understand about the world of hair dye numbers? Then check out this guide that Fica Diva has prepared for you!

Hair color chart: understand the differences between shades

The first number to observe in the coloring box is the one that comes before the dot. He is responsible for indicating the height of the tone, which makes it essential to find the right color and not have to deal with hair that is too light or too dark. The shades range from blue-black to ultra-light blonde, gradually increasing from darker to lighter. Take a look at what the hair dye color chart looks like:

1 - Blueish black
2 - Black
3 - Dark brown
4 - Medium brown
5 - Light brown
6 - dark blonde
7- medium blonde
8 - light blonde
9 - Very light blonde
10 - Very light blonde
11 - ultra light blonde
12 - Ultra light blonde

Black hair is found between the 1 and 2, corresponding to natural black hair and bluish black hair. The brown hair color chart has three numbers, going from dark brown (3), medium brown (4) to light brown (5). The blonde hair color chart is the longest, representing six colors from the entire chart. The lighter blondes are equivalent to light blonde tones, such as platinum and pearl blonde.

Nuances and highlights are after the dot on the hair color chart

The second step is to identify which number appears after the dot. It is very important because it indicates the nuance (it can also be called a reflection) of the color or even the absence of it. Nuances and reflections are essential to form the wide range of colors that exist, from red hair to fantasy colors. See how nuances or reflections are represented:

1 - Gray reflection
2 - Iris or matt reflection
3 - Golden reflection
4 - Copper reflection
5 - Mahogany Reflection
6 - Red reflex
7 - Brown or chocolate reflection
8 - Blue reflection

What if a second number appears after the dot on the hair color chart?

When a second number appears after the dot, it means that there is one more color in that mixture. A good example is the Coppery Brown color 5.74 by Cor&Ton: while number 5 corresponds to a light brown tone, shades 7 and 4 indicate, respectively, that there is a brown and coppery reflection in the paint! The first nuance (brown) is the primary color and the second (copper) is secondary. Now, if the number after the dot corresponds to 0, it means that there are no nuances or reflections in the coloring, being the “pure” color, as is the case with the brand's Black 2.0.

And when the nuance number is repeated in the hair color chart?

If the same number is repeated after the dot on the hair dye color chart, it means the shade is pretty intense! The Red Copper Color 7.44 by Cor&Ton, for example, has a medium blonde tone with very intense copper reflections, making it a great hair color for anyone who wants to bet on a very strong copper red. There are cases in which the reflections are even more intense, such as Blond Ultra Platinum 12.111, which is full of gray nuances for those who like a light gray blonde.
