ExploreHave you noticed that your brown or black hair, whether colored or natural, starts to take on reddish highlights over time? The reason for this is daily exposure to the sun, that swim in the pool with chlorine and even the water we wash our hair in, which also takes away part of the pigments with each wash. This reddish, for you to understand better, are the hues that make up the lightening background of browns, but there are some ways to neutralize them. Check out our tips and learn how to reverse the unwanted reflection!
Toning is the best way to neutralize the color without damaging the hair.
The toner is the secret to getting rid of those reddish brown highlights, without damaging your hair. Because it has a low concentration of hydrogen peroxide and does not contain ammonia in the composition, the cuticles open less and prevent the product from penetrating. Therefore, this type of coloring only forms a layer of pigment around the thread, avoiding dryness caused by permanent coloring. Bet on shades like Natural Brown (4.0), Intense Chocolate (4.77) and Almond Brown (5.0). It is worth remembering that, due to this superficial action, the results are better when the chosen shade is very similar to the natural color of your locks. The touch-up can be done every 15 or 20 days, as it will not harm your hair.
If you prefer to maintain it with a permanent color, because it lasts longer, we suggest Copper Brown (5.74), by Cor&Ton, or Chocolate (6.7), both will cancel out reddish reflections in a very natural way.

Toner lasts about 30 washes
As ammonia-free coloring covers the thread instead of penetrating the fiber, the setting is not as durable as the perm, so it is normal for the color to fade as you wash your hair. Duration time will depend on the manufacturer, but on average, it usually lasts about 30 washes. If you make a habit of washing your locks three times a week, you'll be able to show off the vibrant color for up to two months.
