Have you dyed your hair and have questions about how to do the root touch-up? Although it seems difficult to dye only the natural strands and match the root color with the length, it is much simpler than you might think! All you need is a good step-by-step guide that explains exactly how to do the procedure at home and by yourself. Before starting the root touch-up, it is also worth checking out some tips on what to do to ensure the best results.

The steps to do root touch up at home are:

What you need to know before touching up your roots at home

The root touch-up is accompanied by a length touch-up to even out the hair color - but each part is done at different times. Therefore, it is important that you use the same amount of color and oxidant applied to the length to avoid stains, poor color fixation, reflections that do not last for a long time and even poor coverage of gray hair. Also, if you have long or voluminous hair, the recommendation is that you invest in two boxes of coloring or more to avoid running out of product.

That said, check out the details of each step with Stay Diva!

1. Mix the coloring with the oxidizer in a plastic container

The first step to ensure a smooth root retouch is the moment of preparation! You'll need a towel, a plastic bowl, a watch (or other time-keeping device), a brush, and a wide-toothed plastic comb. After gathering all the items, it's time to mix the products.

You will notice that the coloring box provides gloves so that the coloring does not come into contact with your hands. Place them and pour the entire inside of the tube and the oxidizer into the plastic container. After that, take the brush and mix the products very well until the mixture becomes homogeneous.

2. Divide the hair into sections and apply the mixture only to the natural strands

The next step is to divide the hair into small sections to apply the mixture and confirm that all strands receive the product. Start the root touch-up from the front, applying only to the natural, regrown part of the hair. Dye the natural strands at the back of the hair being careful not to dye the length yet.

After painting the entire root, let the mixture act for the time indicated on the package. For root retouching, the Cor&Ton ink has an action time of 30 minutes.

3. Apply the color to the length and let it act for another 10 minutes

After rinsing the strands with cold water after the break time, it's time to retouch the length to match the hair color. With damp strands, apply what's left of the color to the length while massaging strand by strand. After waiting for 10 minutes, rinse your hair with cold water and style as usual!
